iMagic's Options Panel is where you can personalize all your settings, including the look of your e-mails (fonts, backgrounds, agency information, etc.) and how iMagic interacts with your reservation screen. For more on the latter, click on the appropriate CRS at left.

General
General Settings
- 1) Float above my screen:
- If this is checked, the iMagic bullet will float above any windows that are open on your computer, allowing you to use it while still viewing your reservation screen.
- 2) Remember my last position:
- When checked, iMagic will remember where it was on your screen the last time you exited the program and will start in the same place the next time you open it. If it is not checked, iMagic will always open in the upper left corner of your screen. If both this and 'Start in System Tray' are checked, iMagic will start in the tray (as explained below), but when you open it from there it will remember its last position and appear there.
- 3) Start in System Tray:
- When iMagic starts and this option is checked, the program will start in your system tray (the little box at the bottom right of your screen where the time is).

To open the program when it is in the system tray you can double-click the icon or right-click it and select 'Show'.
- 4) Check the clipboard for message text:
- If this is checked, when you click on 'New Message' iMagic will read the contents of your Windows clipboard and paste whatever is there into your 'blank' message.
- 5) Close message after sending:
- If this is checked, when you click 'Email' or 'Fax' (if the faxing feature is available) from the 'iMagic Message' screen, the message will close. An example of why someone would want to leave this option unchecked would be someone who wants to print every message they send and would like the message to stay open after sending so they can click 'Print'.
- 6) Disable Sidebar Help:
- With this option checked, iMagic's Sidebar Help program, which helps users with tips as to iMagic's usage, will be disabled.
- Update
- Clicking the Update button on the General Options page will make iMagic look for an updated version of itself on the internet. This should rarely have to be clicked, since iMagic automatically does this by itself every time it is started.
License
Clicking the License button on the General Options
page will open up the License panel outlined below.
- 1) Your User ID Key:
- This key is automatically assigned to you when you first install iMagic on your computer. It is unique to each individual user and cannot be changed. You should write this number down and keep it safe, in case you have a problem and need to contact MagnaTech. It allows our technical support staff to easily identify you.
- 2) Your Pseudo City Code
- This is your agency's identifier to your CRS. It is saved here when you first install iMagic and is a second identifier (along with your ID Key) should you need to contact MagnaTech for any reason.
- 3) New billing address? (Email):
- This field will always be blank upon opening this screen. iMagic's invoicing is done via e-mail. The first person in your agency to subscribe to iMagic for a license will provide a default e-mail address for billing. If, for any reason, this address needs to be changed, you would fill in the new e-mail address in this field and click 'Renew' (see 5 below).
- 4) Help:
- Clicking this button will open your web browser to iMagic's pricing page. If you've already subscribed to iMagic, you won't need to see this, but if you're still in the 15-day trial period this page will explain the pricing outline for an iMagic subscription.
- 5) Renew:
- If you are a new subscriber or would like to change your e-mail billing address, you would fill in the billing address field above (3) and click 'Renew'. This will send a message to MagnaTech with your license request. You will need to do nothing after this. If all goes well, the next time you open up iMagic your new license (or updated information) will be in place.
- 6) Proxy:
- This button is here for trouble-shooting purposes and should not be clicked unless you've been advised to do so by MagnaTech personnel.
Database
- Perform Data Capture on my mail items:
- If this is checked, iMagic will scan your outgoing messages for contact information and, depending on your choice in the 'For new contacts?' option, automatically add it to your 'Contacts' database or ask you to confirm the addition. Also, if iMagic finds an existing contact with the same e-mail address (or fax number), you have the option of never adding it to the 'Contacts' database or being asked whether or not you'd like to add the contact each time.
- Open with Contact Manager (if available):
- Contact Manager is a more powerful database management program that uses the same contact list as iMagic but lets you note a client's main interests. Then, when it comes time to do a promotion, you could search and select only those people whose interests are represented in the promotion. Contact Manager also offers more fields to store contact information (address, phone number, etc.) as well as a section to keep notes for your contacts. You can also create your own personal calendar where you can schedule appointments, phone calls, and 'To-Do' tasks.
Call MagnaTech at 888-393-3602 and ask about Contact Manager.
- Location of database:
- This is the path of the actual 'Contacts' database and should not be changed unless otherwise instructed by MagnaTech personnel.
If iMagic encounters a problem when trying to open your Contacts database, a click of the 'Repair' button should do the trick. If you still encounter problems after that, please contact
E-Mail
1) Composing / Sending
Complete e-mail addresses for me as I type them:
As you're typing the e-mail address of the recipient, iMagic will automatically fill in the address for you if it's one from your 'Contacts' database.
Save a copy of outgoing mail in Sent Items:
If this is checked, every message you send will be saved to your Archive of sent messages.
Preview messages before sending:
If this is unchecked and you send commands to your CRS through iMagic, the message will get sent automatically without you seeing what it will look like in the iMagic Message screen (provided, of course, that you've stored the e-mail address in the record as outlined in the help page of your particular CRS).
This feature is useful if you send messages without adding any personal notes, but most people want to send the itineraries and invoices with at least a short note. We recommend always leaving this option checked. Please note that if you leave this option unchecked, the subject line of the e-mail you send will be the same as the last message that you sent with iMagic.
Ask for confirmation before sending:
With this option checked, iMagic will ask you if you're sure you want to send this message to the address(es) specified. This could be a useful tool in helping you make sure that the address is correctly spelled and that you are sending this message to the right person.
Send a copy to my email address:
If this option is selected, iMagic will automatically send your email address a copy of every message that it sends out. An example of this feature's usefulness if you use your email-receiving program (Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.) as a way of filing all your sent messages. You will receive the message you sent through iMagic into your inbox, at which point you can move it to the appropriate folder.
2) Itinerary Appearance
Show border around itinerary:
With this option selected, iMagic will display a thin box around your itineraries or invoices, keeping them separate from any notes you may have added to the message. You can select a color for the box by clicking the 'Border Color' button.
Transparent background:
If this is checked, the area of the message that contains the itinerary or invoice will have the same background as the rest of the message. If it is not checked, that area will have a solid background, for which you can choose a color by clicking the 'Frame Color' button.
Border Color:
Clicking this button will allow you to choose the color for the thin box that will be around your itineraries and invoices when the 'Show border' option is selected.
Frame Color:
Clicking this button will allow you to choose the color of the background area of your itineraries and invoices when the 'Transparent background' option is not checked.
3) Customize itinerary font
Face:
This will allow you to choose the font-style and -size for the text of the itineraries and invoices that are brought into the 'iMagic Message' screen.
NOTE: If you choose a font other than 'Courier New' for your itineraries and invoices, it's possible they may become unreadable. Be sure to preview your selection (under the 'Graphics' tab) before confirming any changes.
Color:
Clicking this button will let you choose the color of the text of your itineraries or invoices when they are brought into the 'iMagic Message' screen. This is useful if you want to differentiate between the itineraries and the personal notes of the message being sent.
Graphics
- Templates:
- This is a list of available HTML templates for your e-mail messages. When you first install iMagic on your computer, this list will have three or four templates in it: "Custom Blank", "Default", "Default_Link", and "Default_Link2".
'Default_Link' and 'Default_Link2' are templates in which you can specify up to three links that the recipient can click on to be brought to different areas of your website. To see more on this, please see 'Links' below.
To have a custom template built for your agency, which can include links to your website and special deals, please send an Email to with a subject line of "iMagic custom template" and someone will be in touch with you to discuss what can be done.
- Backgrounds:
- This allows you to select between an image or a solid color as a background. If you choose 'None', the background will be whatever solid color you select from the 'Background Color' button. If 'Existing' is selected, the background will be whatever image was used as the background when the template was created.
- Background Color:
- Clicking this button will allow you to choose the background color of your messages (if you chose 'None' from the 'Backgrounds' list). You can choose from a palette of 48 colors or you can create up to 16 custom colors that you can choose from.
- Preview:
- This button will show you what your choices from the 'Graphics' tab result in. It includes a sample itinerary so you can see how it will align with a real message in it. It's always best to preview your choice so that you can be sure you are not sending unsightly e-mails to your clients.
- Remove Graphics.... :
- With this option selected, and if your chosen template supports it, iMagic will remove certain graphics (eg. link buttons) to save page space when faxing and/or printing from the iMagic Message screen.
Preferences
- My personal E-mail address:
- This is very important and must be correct so that iMagic can send your e-mail messages properly. It will also appear in the body of the e-mail that you send and be used as the 'reply-to' address should the recipient choose to reply to your message. If this is not filled in properly, iMagic will be useless to you as an e-mail program.
- My Customer Reservation Screen:
- When installing itself, iMagic takes the information you supply and fills certain fields automatically, therefore the first time you look at the 'Preferences' tab your CRS should already be selected. However, if you need to change it, select your CRS from the list provided.
- Remember my last subject lines:
- If this option is selected, iMagic will remember the subject line of the last message you sent and will automatically use that as the subject line the next time the 'iMagic Message' screen opens. If you want to change the subject line at that point you can.
- Remove N (or more) consecutive blank lines:
- With this option checked, put a number in the box and iMagic will start removing consecutive blank lines after that point. For example, if you have '3' in the box and iMagic encounters a string of 7 consecutive blank lines before the next line of text in the itinerary, it will remove 5 of those lines so there will never be more than two consecutive blank lines in a sent message.
NOTE: Selecting this option may cause improper pagination in your faxes. Always test this before actually selecting it to be sure.
- Remove "CONTINUED ON PAGE X" markers:
- With this option selected, iMagic will remove the 'CONTINUED ON PAGE x' markers from your itinerary or invoice when it sends them.
- Automatically put client names in subject:
- With this option selected, iMagic will always try and find a passenger name from the itinerary/invoice or from your Contacts list and include it into a subject line of 'Itinerary for [PASSENGER NAME]'. If you do have this option selected, please make sure the subject line is correct before sending the e-mail.
- Font Face & Font Color:
- These two buttons will allow you to select the font-style and -size and the color of your fonts for the text that you actually write in your 'iMagic Message' screen. The fonts and colors of the itineraries and invoices are selected from the 'E-mail' tab and the fonts and colors of your prepend and signature (if any) are chosen when you build them in the 'Signature & Prepend' option.
Agency
- Agency Information (Agency Name, First Name, Last Name, Address, and Contact Information):
- When iMagic is installed on your computer, the information you provide is automatically loaded in this screen. If you wish to change that information you can do so here. This is the information that will appear on all your outgoing e-mails. Always preview any changes you make before sending the e-mail. You can preview them by clicking 'OK' and then re-opening the 'Options' panel, choosing the 'Graphics' tab and clicking 'Preview'.
Links
If you choose 'Default_Link.html' or 'Default_Link2.html' as your template, you will have to click on the 'Links' tab (as seen below) and choose the links for your template.
- 1) Link:
- This list is how you will switch between the settings for each of the three links. Simply click on the drop down list (the little arrow) and select the link you would like to adjust the properties of ('Link no. 1', 'Link no. 2', or 'Link no. 3').
- 2) Address:
- In this box you will put the full website address that you want the link to refer to (don't forget the 'http://' before the 'www', as seen in the sample above). When the user clicks on the graphic, they will be brought to this webpage in a new window (the e-mail you sent them will still stay open in its original window). You can make sure the link is the one you want by clicking the 'Test Link' button. Your browser will open up to the website specified in the 'Address' field. If you don't want the graphic to link to any website, just put '#TOP' in the field.
- 3) Graphic:
- When iMagic is installed on your computer, the two 'Default_Link' templates include three graphics as defaults. If you have a small picture on your computer that you'd prefer to be in the template (it must be '.jpg' or '.gif' format), just click on the button next to the field and browse to that picture and it will be saved as the image for this link.
- 4) Mouse-Over text:
- The text that you write in this field will float above the image when the message's recipient holds his mouse over the link.
- 5) Set to Agency:
- Click this button if you would like to apply the link settings to every set in your agency. An e-mail request will be sent to MagnaTech and the next time your agents log on to iMagic their link settings will be updated.
Signature & Prepend
When you select 'Signature & Prepend' from the 'Options' button the screen below will open up, showing you the prepends and signatures you have created (if any) and giving you the option to create new ones, modify existing ones, or delete obsolete ones.
- 1) Display Panel:
- This area will display the content of the prepend or signature that is selected from the list at the right of the screen.
- 2) Select an item:

- Delete
- This button will delete the highlighted selection, which will obviously become unavailable in any future messages.
- 1) Edit Panel:
- This is where you can change or edit the text of the prepend or signature.
- 2) Prepend OR Signature:
- This selection will dictate whether what you create will appear above (Prepend) or below (Signature) the itinerary and standard text area of the message.

- Rename
- You can change the name of the selected prepend or signature to a more meaningful one, for easy reference when viewing the list of the previous screen.
- Preview
- Clicking this button will open a sample screen with the current prepend or signature displayed, showing you what a message with it included will look like.
